Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-term trainer Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.
Victory also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's defensive approach and frequent reactions on court had prompted some to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was over.
Yet the player has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an improved service.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair traded break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour victory, took control to push for a decider.
Moutet saved 4 initial chances in a close deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
